Wallace Jack Blankenship Sr.

Mr. Jack Blankenship, of Albemarle, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7th, at Atrium Cabarrus. Born on September 18, 1936, in Chase City, Virginia, he was the son of the late Grady Corum Blankenship and Annie Lowder Blankenship. Jack was a faithful member of Salem Global Methodist Church, where he found strength in his faith and fellowship with his church family. Throughout his life, he worked for South Central Oil Company and Stallings Refrigeration and proudly served his community as a member of the Albemarle Police Reserve. Jack never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. He was known for his warm personality, sharp sense of style, and genuine love for people. A horse enthusiast, he enjoyed spending time at the lake, hunting, and fishing. Music was a constant source of joy in his life, and he appreciated listening to all types of music. Family and friends will fondly remember Jack for his incredible storytelling ability. He was often the life of any gathering, sharing stories that never seemed to grow old, no matter how many times they were told. Those cherished tales became a beloved tradition at family get-togethers and will continue to bring smiles and laughter to those who knew him best. Jack was also well known for his delicious steaks, which family and friends always looked forward to enjoying. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed relaxing at home in front of the television, especially while watching reruns of In the Heat of the Night and cheering along with Steve Harvey on Family Feud. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Jack Blankenship, Jr. (Amanda Lewis) of Concord and Chuck Blankenship of Albemarle; his grandchildren, Harmony Blankenship, Austin Blankenship, Matt Mauldin, and Chad Burleson; along with his great grandsons, Colby Mauldin of Richfield and Shilon Burleson, of Kannapolis along with Camron, and JD Mauldin, both of Charlotte. Also, great great granddaughter McKinley Mauldin of Midland. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca S. Leeper, and his brother, Larry L. Blankenship. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care - Albemarle. A graveside service will held at Salem GMC at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026, with Rev. Neil Shaw, pastor of Salem Global Methodist Church. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the many prayers, acts of kindness, and support shown during this difficult time. Jack’s gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and love for his family and friends will never be forgotten. Though he has left this earthly home, the memories he created, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
