Sandra Poplin Morris

Sandra Poplin Morris, 87, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Atrium Health Stanly. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at West Albemarle Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Adam Hatley. Burial will follow at Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Family Life Center at West Albemarle Baptist Church. Born September 15, 1938, in Stanly County, Sandra was the daughter of the late Vance James Poplin and Annie Lee Whitley Poplin. A woman of deep faith and devotion, she was a longtime member of West Albemarle Baptist Church and a former employee of Collins and Aikman. Earlier in her life, she faithfully served at Silver Springs Baptist Church as church pianist, Sunday school teacher, and a willing leader in many church activities before later moving her membership. Sandra will be remembered by her family as a faithful, self-sacrificing woman whose life was marked by love, compassion, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-playing mah jong, bridge, and card games, as well as playing the piano and shag dancing in her younger years. Music held a special place in her heart, and one of her most cherished hymns was "How Great Thou Art," especially when sung by Don Jenkins. Her favorite scripture, Romans 8:28, was a reflection of the faith she lived by: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Wayne Morris; her son, Jeffrey Wayne Morris; her brother, Michael Vance Poplin; and a great-grandson. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lee Ann Caviness of Albemarle; six grandchildren, Vance Morris, Suzanne Haywood, Adam Mabry, Mallory Morris, Coleman Caviness, and Carly Caviness; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Each of them carries forward her legacy of love, faith, and kindness. Memorials may be made to West Albemarle Baptist Church, 336 Church Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Sandra's life was a testament to quiet strength, enduring faith, and a heart devoted to serving others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
