Joyce Amberson Walker

Joyce Amberson Walker, 75, of Concord, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Locust. Born on January 30, 1951, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Joyce was the daughter of the late Bill Amberson and Mary Rich Amberson. She enjoyed a successful career as a research analyst with First Union, Wachovia, and Wells Fargo before her retirement. Joyce will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit, her joyful heart, and her unwavering devotion to family and friends. She had a remarkable way of making everyone around her feel loved and appreciated. Pure-hearted and caring, she was always willing to help others and put their needs before her own. Those who knew her best described her as an angel, full of love and kindness. At the same time, she had a spirited personality and could be "TNT" when the occasion called for it. She was also known for affectionately describing herself as "a mess," a phrase that often brought smiles to those around her. She found great joy in dancing, sewing, cooking, and listening to country music, especially the songs of her favorite artist, George Strait. Taking care of others came naturally to her, and she was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Joyce was easy to startle and would often exclaim, "You scare me!" with a laugh. Her familiar expressions, "Happy, Happy, Happy" and "I love you," became treasured parts of her legacy. More importantly, everyone who heard those words knew she truly meant them. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donnie Ray Snead, who passed away in March of this year. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Amy Dillon (Timothy), and an adopted daughter, Deborah Snipes (Jimmy); grandchildren, Christopher Dillon (Alexis) and Amanda Dunn (Randy); and great-grandchildren, Kristen Ayers, Kaylee Ayers, Kenzie Ayers, and Kimberly Ayers, along with many other family members and friends who will forever treasure the love and happiness she brought into their lives. Though Joyce's presence will be deeply missed, her kindness, laughter, and loving spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
