Drake William Ferguson

Drake William Ferguson, 29, of Albemarle, passed away on August 8, 2026. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel at 4:30 PM and again at 8:30 PM. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4:30 PM prior to the first service and from 7 until 8:30 PM prior to the evening service. Born March 3, 1997, in Mecklenburg County, NC, Drake was the son of Chuck and Josie Ferguson (Charles Ernest “Chuck” Ferguson Jr. (Stephanie) of Mint Hill and Jocelyn Smeberg “Josie” Ferguson of Albemarle). He worked in the construction industry and was known as a conscientious and hardworking young man who took pride in what he did. Drake had a huge heart and a personality that could fill a room. He was loving, caring and always willing to help someone who needed him. He had a goofy, funny side and loved making those around him laugh. Athletic throughout his life, Drake especially enjoyed basketball and softball and played on three different softball teams. Sports were not simply something he enjoyed; they were an important part of his life and a way for him to connect with the people he loved. Above all else, Drake loved being a father, and his three boys, Kye, Knox and Ridge, were at the heart of his life. He shared his love of sports especially with Kye, and the two spent countless hours together playing, practicing and enjoying anything that involved a ball or a game. Whether they were on the field, on the court or simply spending time together, sports became a special bond between father and son. With Knox and Ridge still so young, Drake treasured the time he had with his youngest boys as well. The love he had for all three of his children was unmistakable, and they were a source of tremendous pride and joy in his life. As the first-born grandchild in his family, Drake held a special place from the very beginning. His humor, generous heart and willingness to help others endeared him to his family and friends, and his sudden passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his three sons, Kye Ferguson, age 9, Knox Ferguson, age 18 months, and Ridge Ferguson, age 8 months; sister, Jaqi Ferguson of Mint Hill; grandmother, Rita Novak of Albemarle; grandfather, Charley Ferguson of Wilmington; special uncle, Erik Smeberg (Jackie Fallar) of Matthews; aunt, Mickey Robertson (Randall) of Wilmington; great-aunt, Roz Moreno of Hammond, IN; Kye’s mother, Jessica Brown of Albemarle; and Knox and Ridge’s mother, Kimberly Dalton. He is also survived by numerous cousins and other relatives who loved him dearly. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters from Bridge to Recovery and his huge Softball Brotherhood and Sisterhood who loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Go Fund Me account for his children.
