Daphine Poplin Pickler

Miss Daphine Poplin Pickler, 85, of New London passed away on September 4, 2026, at The Greens at Cabarrus. Her funeral service will be on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel in Albemarle. Rev. Jody Yopp and Rev. Charles Hensley will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening September 9, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle. She was born February 25, 1941, in Stanly County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Claude Franklin Pickler and the late Mary Earnest Poplin Pickler, and the granddaughter of the late Pleasant Cornelius (Neal) Pickler, Emma Frances Harwood Pickler, and the late Jacob Laster Poplin and Martha (Mattie or Matt) Rowetta Lowder Poplin. In addition to her parents and grand parents she was preceded in death by her sister Shelva Jean Pickler December 5, 2018. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New London, Inc., since August 26, 1951. She had 73 years of Sunday School perfect attendance pins. She was a bookkeeper for 35 years at Lowder Hardware Company and in the office of Lowder Supply Company, Thomasville, NC. She also worked five years in the office of Hartsell Funeral Home and was the bookkeeper for Norview Gardens. In 1959, she graduated from New London High School and went to Morgan Business College. Miss Pickler was very active in her church, where she served on the following committees: Co-Director for the JOY Makers for 13 years, Assistant Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Teacher, Sunday School Director, Finance, Music, Nominating, Flower, Counting and Assistant Church Treasurer, former Choir Member, and a Messenger to the Baptist Association. She made the church bulletins, was Chairman of the Church Historian, and compiled the 100th year book. She was a member of the I. G. Greer Society of the Baptist Children’s Homes of NC and was on the first Friend of the Children Committee for the Baptist Children’s Homes of NC, Thomasville. Miss Pickler is survived by a number of cousins; special neighbors, Don Shaver and Linda and Mark Sample; and her special dog, Sweet Pepper.
