Carol Lefler Cauble

Carol Jean Lefler Cauble, 79, passed away peacefully at Stanly Regional Medical Center on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 7:37 p.m., surrounded by her family in prayer. Carol was born to Charles and Carolyn Lefler, who preceded her in death. On June 4, 1967, she married the love of her life, Mickey Loyd Cauble. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, service, and love. After nearly 59 years of marriage, Mickey preceded her in death on April 8, 2026. Exactly one month later, Carol joined him in Heaven, bringing to a close a beautiful love story that spanned nearly six decades. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Laura Cauble Mauldin, on May 4, 2017. Carol is survived by her children, Carla Cauble-Moore (Kevin Sides) of Midland, John Cauble (Christa) of Kannapolis, and Kendy (Damon) of Love Valley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ethan (Megan), Chloe (Dayton), Will (Kinley), Mary-Elizabeth (Garrett), Charles Landon (Karen), MaKenna, Jay, Aiden, Jocelyn, Xander, Grace, Molly, Cyrus, and Carlynn; and her great-grandchildren, Serena, Chase, Brooks, and Ivy Sue. She is survived by her brother, Charles Lefler (Betsy) of Albemarle; her sister-in-law, Brenda Howell (Marshall) of Norwood; her niece, Sandy; and her nephews, Stephen and Matthew, all of whom were a cherished part of her life. From an early age, Carol had a heart for teaching. She spent many years studying dance as a child and young woman and later shared that passion by teaching dance, including tap and clogging. Whether in the dance studio or the classroom, she loved encouraging young people and helping them grow in confidence, discipline, and character. After graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Carol began her teaching career in Statesville before returning home to Stanly County. She taught for many years at Central Elementary School and later at Albemarle Middle School, where she impacted the lives of countless students. While many students may remember her as one of the strictest teachers they ever had, they also knew she cared deeply about them and wanted them to succeed. She believed education was about more than academics; it was about helping young people become responsible, kind, hardworking adults. Above all else, Carol loved her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found great joy in spending time with those she loved, celebrating life's milestones, and watching future generations grow. Her faith guided her throughout her life, and she was a steady source of love, wisdom, encouragement, and strength to those around her. Those who knew Carol best will remember not only her kindness and dedication, but also her spirited personality. She had a knack for doing things her own way, keeping those around her on their toes, and giving family and friends stories they would laugh about for years to come. Her strong will, quick wit, and independent spirit were part of what made her so unforgettable. Carol's legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the students she taught, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love. A service to celebrate Carol's life will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Albemarle, North Carolina. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the church parlor. Following the service, family and close friends will proceed to the columbarium for inurnment. All others are invited to the church fellowship hall for food and fellowship.
