Wade Aubrey Tucker

Wade Aubrey Tucker, 66, of Midland, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 20, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy Tucker; stepdaughters, Debra Merwin and Tarra Bartholomew; mother-in-law, Pat Moscato; brother-in-law, James Sanderson; brother, Greg Tucker, and his wife, Sheryl; niece, Meredith; and nephew, Darrell. Wade is also greatly mourned by his close friends that he considered family, including Stephanie Jones and his surrogate son, John Thomas, his wife, Charlotte, and their sons, Jackson and Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Coseyetta Tucker, and his sister, Christine Stevens. Born on April 7, 1958, in King, NC, Wade lived a life full of passion, dedication, and talent. After graduating high school, he spent seven years before college playing lead guitar for “The Renegade Band,” sharing his love of music and forming a lifelong friendship and musical bond with his bandmate Randy (Raymond) Coleman. Wade later found his true calling in architecture, dedicating over three decades to the field he cherished. Recently, he continued his musical pursuits as a founding member of the band “Running Dirty,” which he had planned to enjoy playing with during his upcoming retirement. Wade was an Associate Principal for LS3P before his untimely passing. Sadly, all of his extensive knowledge, experience, and skills have left with him, but he left his indelible mark on much of the Charlotte skyline and the decades of countless projects at places like the Charlotte Airport, Billy Graham Library, and Samaritan’s Purse facilities. Wade and Wendy, married in 1999, shared a remarkable journey of over 33 years together. Their bond was truly special, built on a foundation of mutual interests and a deep love for each other. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, karaoke, family game nights, movie nights, and traveling, creating countless memories along the way. Throughout their lives, Wade and Wendy valued the friendships they formed. Whether it was their trips to South Carolina to visit dear friends Lance and Julie Palmer or maintaining strong connections with long-time friends like Arlin, Faye, David, and Vada, who all share the last name Tucker but are not related—a fact Wade found hilarious—they always prioritized their relationships. Even as life brought changes that made frequent visits difficult, time between contact never lessened their support for one another, especially during tough times. Wade had a particular fondness for Las Vegas, finding it fascinating and always discovering new things to see and do on each trip, creating many memorable experiences with family and friends. He also had a great love of aviation and was a licensed pilot for 30 years. He owned an airplane with his longtime friend and fellow pilot, David Tucker, and they enjoyed many adventures in the sky together over the years. Wade’s faith was central to his life, and he was actively involved in church, serving in many roles through the years, including Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and musician. Known to many for his lively spirit, sarcasm, wit, and sense of humor, Wade was one of those rare dependable people who always followed up and did what he said he would do. To those close to him though, he was the one they could always count on, who, without asking, always dropped everything to show up and be there for them. He was extremely loyal and very protective. Husband, musician, songwriter, artist, high-rise builder, brother, pilot, and truly great friend—you have left a big hole in many lives. You were very loved and will be missed immensely. A memorial service for Wade Tucker will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Locust. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with funeral services following at 11:00 AM. Wade will be laid to rest at First Baptist Church of Locust after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 159, Locust, NC 28097.
