Terrence "Terry" Allan Orr

Mr. Terrence "Terry" Allan Orr, age 66, of Monroe, NC, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Atrium Health Union. Funeral Services for Terry will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Saint Vincent De Paul Church, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte, NC, 28210. At the conclusion of the funeral service, a memorial gathering in Terry's honor will be held in the fellowship hall. Terry was born November 28, 1952, in Hammond, Indiana, the son of the late John E. Orr and Marie Baker Orr. Prior to attending Marquette University, Terry attended Bishop Knoll Institute in Hammond. During his college years, Terry played rugby for Marquette and earned his Bachelors of Science in math and statistics. He applied his acquired knowledge for over 40 years in the information technology industry, and worked as a project manager for the State of Kentucky since 2002. Terry was a man who was passionate about his work and thankful for the many friendships he developed along the way. Although professionally Terry was hard working and analytical, in his personal life he was known as soft-spoken and mild mannered. He enjoyed working with his hands, and spent much time in his garden and on his woodworking projects. Above all, Terry was dedicated to his family and friends. With a bear hug greeting you had to be prepared for, Terry will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Loved by all his family and friends, Terry is warmly remembered as many things; Husband, Dad, Grampa, TerrBear, Brother, Uncle Terry, and Friend. Terry is survived by his irrevocably dedicated and eternally loving wife, Marj Orr, as well as her three children; Kyle Gould (Crissy), Piper Marquette (Matt), and Brandi Stancil (Eric), his three daughters; Amanda Peters (Matthew), Becky Murphy (Kevin), and Sarah Orr, his sisters; Barbara Matovina and Donna Yednak, as well as 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and five dogs; Khyzer, Khyper, Kayleigh, Archer, and Lilly. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Schneider.
