Mrs. Della Ruth "Sister" Love Cooper, age 91, of Monroe, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at her residence. Services to honor Ruth's life will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in the H. Vann Davis III Memorial Chapel at Davis Funeral Service, 1003 E. Franklin St. Monroe, NC, 28112, officiated by Weston Davis. Interment will immediately follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Ruth's family will receive friends on Friday, July 23, 2021 in the Azalea Room of Davis Funeral Service from 6:00-8:00 PM. Ruth was born on April 4, 1930 in Union County, NC, a daughter of the late Ben Love and Ruby Hargette Love. Ruth was a simple woman who valued the concept of time, always being direct and to the point. A sweet soul with a beautiful smile, she enjoyed reading books and gardening. Ruth had a green thumb and could turn even a small weed into a beautiful flower. Known to all those that loved her as "Sister", her name was a direct reflection to the importance of family in her life. Ruth loved to bake and was well known for her homemade biscuits and iced tea. Every afternoon at 4PM, homemade biscuits would be pulled fresh from her oven. The sweet aroma of her baking was an open invitation to the neighborhood for everyone to come over to enjoy the product of her southern hospitality along with the fellowship she cherished. Her kindness and giving in the direction of others will be greatly missed, and never forgotten. Those left to carry on Ruth's memory include her son, Steve Cooper; her son, Michael Cooper (Rebecca Foster); her brother, Dennis Albert Love; 5 grandchildren; Stephanie "Cissy" Strong (Sammy), Jamie Welch (Chris), Shannon Bradley (Rory), Jessica Cooper, Kambry Cooper, 11 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Cooper; her son, Johnny Ray Cooper; her brother, Bennie Eugene Love; her brother, Jack Love; and her sister, Joyce McCray.
