Patricia Bolen Johnson

Patricia Bolen Johnson passed away peacefully on April 22, 2018 with family at her side. Pat was born in Denmark, SC on April 12, 1931 to Stanmore David and Claudia Juanita Bell Bolen. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 55 years, Hampton Johnson, her brother, Howard Bolen, and her eldest child, Byron Johnson. Pat graduated from Willow High School in Norway, SC and attended Winthrop College in Rockhill, SC for two years. After Winthrop Pat entered the US Army and that is where she met Hampton. Pat, Hampton, and Byron lived in Lawton OK and Frankfurt Germany until settling in Fayetteville, NC in 1960. Their daughter, Alexandra, and their second son, Chris were born and raised in Fayetteville. Pat worked for Metropolitan Life for most of her career as a clerk, sales representative, and office manager. She was the first female Charted Life Underwriter in Fayetteville. Pat was very active in the community while living in Fayetteville for 33 years. This included bridge clubs, the Business and Professional Women's Club, and garden clubs. Gardening was a love of Pat's for many years. She took classes in horticulture and became a NC Master Gardener. In retirement Pat and Hampton moved to Moore County, just outside of Pinehurst NC. They started a camellia nursery and were very involved in The Village Chapel church of Pinehurst. When Hampton's health started to decline they moved closer to two of their children, Alexandra and Chris, in the Charlotte area. They lived in Monroe, NC and after Hampton's passing soon after moving to Monroe, Pat joined Central United Methodist Church. Pat is survived by her sisters (Myrtle, Iris, and Deanna), her children (Alexandra and Chris), her grandchildren (Danny, James, Jonathan, Bellina, and Caroline), and her great granddaughter, Brooklyn. A service honoring Pat will be held at the chapel of Central United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 5 at 11:00 AM. There will be visitation in the chapel prior to the service at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 801 South Hayne St., Monroe, NC 28112. Davis Funeral Service of Monroe is honored to be serving the Johnson family.
