Judith Ann Edwards

Judith Ann Edwards passed away peacefully at home in Albemarle, NC on Tuesday, November 23 at the age of 73. Judy was predeceased by her husband Richard Edwards, her parents Alex and Judy Weaver, her brother Richard Weaver, and sister Elizabeth Weaver. She is survived by her sister Jean Green, wife of Bob Green, of Northampton, PA. She was loved deeply by her daughters, Lisa Williams of Albemarle, NC, Christa Held, wife of Chris Held of Macungie, PA, and Elizabeth Ritter, also of Albemarle, NC. Her 10 grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life and they will miss her greatly. Her grandchildren include Michael Williams, husband to Melissa Williams of Allentown, PA; Tim Williams, husband to Kristina Williams of Emmaus, PA; Jake Williams, fiancé of Nichole Phillips of Ringgold, GA; Rachel Held, fiancée of Nigel Harlan of Baltimore, MD; Zachary and Becky Held; and Ray and Emagene Ritter. Great grandchildren Michael Williams, Jr. and Coral Sue Williams arrived earlier this year and brought “Judyba” many smiles. Judy was born in Palmerton, PA in 1948. She graduated from Jim Thorpe Area Senior High School in 1966 and took nursing classes before becoming Mrs. Edwards and welcoming her first child the following year. Judy worked in banking for most of her career, first with First National Bank which ultimately became Wells Fargo. She retired from Wells Fargo in 2011 and relocated from PA to NC in 2013. While in NC, Judy enjoyed working at Belk for the past seven years. Judy enjoyed hosting family birthdays and holiday picnics and always had an open door and extra food ready to serve. She loved the triennial family trips to Walt Disney World. While at home, Judy enjoyed caring for stray cats, eventually making two permanent residents. Visitation will be held at Stanly Funeral Home, 1835 Badin Road, Albemarle, NC on Friday, December 3 at 10 am. The funeral service will be held following the visitation at 11 am at the funeral home with The Reverend Murdock Smith, PhD, officiating.
