Dr. JC Boone Jr.

JC Boone, Jr., died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Born in Albemarle on March 24, 1935, JC was the youngest child of Jasper Sr. and Leo Boone. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers LeRoy and Edwin, and his sister Betty. Dr. Boone was a graduate of Albemarle High School. He received Degrees from Mars Hill College, a BS and Masters from Appalachian State University State, and a Doctorate from Middle TN State University. His Advanced Degrees were all in History and Political Science with Concentration in a Study of the Third Reich. Professionally, he taught at Wingate College, Chairman of the History and Political Science Department at Clayton State (a part of the University of Georgia System), and Vice President of Educational Services at Stanly Community College. While in the Army he was stationed in Berchtesgaden, Germany as the Director of Publicity for the Recreation Centers of Berchtesgaden, Garmish and Chiemsee. It was while there that he had the opportunity to interview Hitler’s sister, Paula, his personal pilot, Hans Baur and Hitler’s Immediate Supervisor on the French and Belgium Fronts in WWI, Johann Langwider, and others who had a relationship with the Furher, all of which became a part of his books, Hitler at the Obersalzberg. Dr. Boone has been active in the work of Optimist International having been awarded the Status of Distinguished and Outstanding Governor of the NC District, Vice President and Member of the Board, Chaired six International Committees, and in 1995-96 served the International Organization as President after which he served as President of the International Foundation. Dr. Boone has just completed his third book which is now at the publisher. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann, his children Kathy Winecoff and David Boone (Michele), his grandchildren Jason Winecoff (Anna), Holly Wiggins (Sean), Christian Boone (Danielle), Jesse Boone, four great grandchildren, Everly Winecoff (age 5), Henry Wiggins (age 4), Boone Winecoff (9 months) and Palmer Boone (4 months). He loved his family, his community, and his church. Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, November 9th at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Albemarle, followed by family receiving and reception in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, First Baptist Church of Albemarle, 202 North Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 or to the Endy Optimist Club, 22238 Teeter Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
