Helen Hinson Greene

Mrs. Helen Hinson Greene, age 88, of Monroe, NC, passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, February 14, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children. Funeral services honoring Helen's life will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Zion United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Fish Road, Monroe, NC 28110, officiated by Pastor Mark Clontz. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to service. We ask that all who plan to attend practice proper social distancing including face coverings. Helen was born March 26, 1932, in Union County, NC, a daughter to the late Mack Alexander and Blanche Little Alexander. Through the years, she taught her family the importance of strength; the strength of faith, the strength of love and the strength of forgiveness. Her love and kindness were freely given to all especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will forever love their Momma and Mee Maw. During her many years as a food service worker for the Union County Public School System, "Mrs. Helen" became a treasured part of every life she touched. She never met a stranger and treated everyone like he was a lifelong friend. When not surrounded by family and friends, Helen spent many hours tending her beautiful flowers and working in the garden with her husband, Joe. Helen's love and faith lives on in every life she touched, and may we honor her by freely giving of our faith and love to others. Helen is survived by her sons; Randy Greene (Annette) and Ben Greene, her daughters; Tammy Parker (Bobby) and Beth Greene; her brother, Tony Alexander (Marion); her sister, Nita Weeks; her granddaughter, Amanda Elliott (Wayne); her grandson, Landon Greene (Lauren); and her great-grandchildren, Carson Elliott, Mason Greene, Lily Greene, Hayden Elliott, and Waylon Greene. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Joe Greene. The family finds comfort in knowing these two sweethearts were reunited after only one week apart. Their love and devotion to one another conquered all. In this time of mourning, the family would also like to extend their heartfelt love and thanks to Robin Fleischman who has given her unending love and support to the entire family.
