Delphia Griffin Moser

Mrs. Delphia Griffin Moser, age 80, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Novant Matthews. Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Delphia Moser will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Reverend Frank Crump. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Sunday, prior to the funeral ceremony at Davis Funeral Home. Mrs. Moser was born on November, 10, 1937, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Walter Scott Griffin and Zetta Rose Nash Griffin Delphia was the owner of Phillips Sandwich shop, and enjoyed greeting everyone with a smile at Wal-Mart. Delphia was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Horace Griffin. Survivors include sister Edith Brooks, of Monroe, NC, sister Martha Coggin, of Monroe, NC, and a special niece, Teresa Polk. Delphia is also survived by her life partner of 30 years, Ed Gardner. Ed would like to thank a few people who have meant so much to them along the way: We are here to celebrate the life of Delphia...her life as she was before her illness. She was a good hearted person who would give you the shirt off her back. She loved to help people. She worked hard all her life. She owned the Sandwich Shop by the railroad tracks. She was famous for Shipwreck Sandwich and Super Cheese Combo. If the good Lord needed a short-order cook ...he got one of the best! She met Eddie at her sandwich shop. He was the love of her life. When she sold the business she went to work for Walmart as a greeter. She loved talking with people and the highlight of her day was someone telling her they needed one of her sandwiches to keep them going. She never met a stranger. She even ran a little restaurant at the Sweet Union Flea Market, she loved cooking for others. She enjoyed going to the fish camp and eating shrimp. She was a bingo pro! If anyone could win at Bingo it was Delphia! She saved her Bingo winnings and bought a place at Holden Beach! She even opened up a bingo parlor at one time. Delphia loved life She loved her little dog... Tumbleweed Ed would like to thank a few people who have meant so much to them along the way: Her sister, Edith Brooks, for her loving acts of kindness, caring, and words of encouragement and wisdom Martha Coggin, for loving her sister. Teresa Polk, her niece for making sure they always had food and celebrating holidays and birthdays with them. To the families of Jane Griffin and Janet Fowler for visiting Delphia and bringing ice cream and nightgowns. And to all the other kind friends who visited her in the hospital and nursing home. A special thank you to Bobby Patterson for his friendship and always being there at a moment's notice to help Ed with lifting Delphia or transporting her to and from doctors visits and therapy. Also, thank you to Kathy Henderson, for all of her assistance and caring ways.
